“Untitled”
By: Courtney McPhillips
I hadn’t see your face
in what seemed to be forever.
I invited you out for coffee,
I should have known better.
When my eyes met yours,
I thought I saw a ghost.
You’re the skeleton from my past
that has haunted me the most.
I offered out my kindness
and received more in return.
We’re both so different now.
Just look at what we’ve learned.
You told me about your life
and how you’re happy now
with a different girl
from a local town.
It made me sad to see
how quickly you’ve moved on.
I’m still right where you left me,
right where I don’t belong.
I miss the way you loved me,
that I know for sure.
If I could take things back,
I swear I’d love you more.
